Thursday, Feb 10, 2022, three guys were seen walking down Route 66 highway going East followed by a car with hazards on. Wondering what was happening, I stopped to talk to these gentlemen about why they are walking down the road, which to my surprise, was for a cause close to my heart.

Tony Andrews started walking from Pops Gas Station in Arcadia, to raise money for mental health awareness. He is joined by Shawn Overstreet, also Steve Henderson who is walking for his son that has schizophrenia. Overstreet commented that “We want people to know that it is ok to talk about it and not be ashamed of it.” There are so many people with mental health problems but are too ashamed to seek the help they need. Going untreated could cause more problems or even end their lives.

They continued on their journey down Route 66. Their walk ended in Tulsa, on Saturday, Feb 12, 2022. All proceeds go to the Mental Health Association of Oklahoma and Pocket Full of Hope.
