Two separate accidents, one life lost

An injury collision occurred one mile east of Bristow on the Turner Turnpike near mile marker 196. A 2014 Ford Explorer driven by Taylor Hernandez, of Tulsa, and two passengers, a 7 year old and a four month old, who were both uninjured. Hernandez, himself, was taken by Creek County EMS to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, admitted in good condition.

Both Hernandez and a second vehicle were traveling eastbound on the turnpike when Hernandez entered the outside lane colliding with vehicle two due to icy road conditions. After impact, Hernandez continued east, departing the roadway to the right, striking a wall. Vehicle two continued eastbound and did not stop. Condition of the roads at the time of the accident were icy. Hernandez was wearing a sealtbelt and the children were in a booster seat and a rear facing carseat.

Another single car accident occurred on the morning of Feb. 14, 2023, on the Turner Turnpike westbound approximately four miles from Bristow, taking the drivers life. A 2002 Envoy, driven by Deaon Johnson, of Tulsa, was traveling westbound when his vehicle departed the roadway due to rainy wet roads, rolled three times and came to a rest on its top. Johnson was pronounced at the scene of the accident and was transported by the medical examiner to the Oklahoma State Medical Examiners office in Tulsa.
