For years, Paige Wood operated her business from her home, aspiring to one day open a local storefront. Paige, a Bristowan from birth, grew up within the community. Many locals may know her better by her maiden name, Dowdy. In fact, Paige’s family has proven an integral thread of Bristow’s tapestry for generations as teachers, historians, and godly public servants.

In fact, many may know her mom Janell from the First Church of God or her grandparents, Alan and Kim, who worked for many years serving the community through Bristow Public Schools. Perhaps even more well-known, Paige’s great-grand-aunt, Bunny Baker, served the community in a multitude of ways, including writing stories for this very paper. Because her servicebased family raised her with ample support, structure, and love, Paige learned the lessons she needed to open her own business and continue her family’s tradition of serving the Bristow community. For her, the opportunity means more than simply selling her wares or providing income.

While Paige will be offering merchandise and building her family’s income through her business, the opening of Rockin’ W Designs goes further, fulfill-community, and supporting local businesses, patrons, students, neighbors, friends, and families. It provides a venue to meet, visit, shop, serve, support, and yet another reason to be grateful.

Indeed, expressing gratitude and awe of her newfound opportunities and successes, Paige said, “Support is everything. Without the support of my family—my husband, mom, and grandma, I could never have done this. Their support made it possible for me to express myself and follow my passions. I appreciate them and look forward to supporting others through my business. I like to see small people doing big things. I’m 26 and never thought that my business from home would grow into a business with a storefront on Main, but because of my family’s and the community’s support, my dreams came true.”

Addressing how she plans to support the community, she looks forward to interacting with and meeting new people throughout the week, continuing to shop locally in support of fellow business owners, offering the products Bristowans want, and sponsoring local organizations, events, and children’s teams and attending their events.

Through Rockin’ W Designs, Paige will offer her unique t-shirt and tumbler designs, embroidery and screen-printing services, and handmade jewelry, keychains, and baby items, including bibs, burp rags, outfits, and other gifts. She also fulfills custom orders.

Asked how it feels to join other locally owned businesses, she said, “I think growing up here and living here my whole life, you really get to see how much the community supports one another. Having a shop local is just awesome to me. I love seeing the community and businesses grow! We’re such a small town and, I think we always have room to add new things.”
