-Topic: Bristow OHCA member Norma Carman, a Second generation OHCE Member, Presents Two Leader Training Lessons at April Meeting: "Air Fryer Cooking" and "Jarcuterie 101"

Following in her Mother's footsteps of being a member of OHCE, Norma Carman presented two OHCE Leader Lessons at the April Bristow OHCE meeting, Norma's mother was Alma Varner and she was active in a Lincoln County OHCE when Norma was growing up.

This week, Norma first presented the Leader Training Lesson on Air Fryers to the group. In addition to providing everyone with a handout, Norma emphasized the following recommendations: 1) Get a good air fryer cookbook such as "Air Fry''; 2) Do your homework on it, 3) Air frying is economical in a variety of ways, 4) do your homework before buying, 5)It takes the place of deep frying, 6) It does not fry: the process is like a confection oven, 7) Cook at 25 degrees lower than a regular oven, 8) Make sure the circulation air touches all food, to avoid under or over cooking in places, 9) Reminder of safety skill of keeping knives sharp, so no hard pushing needed, and 10) Use every day, because it saves time and money.

Following the Leader Training Lesson on Air Fryers, norma presented the Leader Training Lesson on Jarcuterie 101 (snacks with a new twist) A, which was originally developed by Dea Tash of Payne County Extension. After Norma explained that "Jarcuterie" refers to the acts of preparing/assembling foods on a tray and it is an alternation for your snacks. It became more poplar during the covid, to present spreading germs. The items can be in small jars or other recyclable containers for packaging. Norma provided the Following Jacuterie tips: 1) Don't buy expensive food and start with you have a inexpensive, 2) Be creative and have fun, realizing no Jarcuterie will be exactly the same, 3) Emphasize some nuts, but also have fruits and vegetables, and 4) use foods listed on "My Plate" of the federal recommendations.

Other topics/business of Bristow OHCE nine members and two guests began with Ray Kinslow's devotional "Attitude-A Change of Heart" a Household int of using baking soda as a household cleaner, Another Household hint was running cold water over a cut avocado to prevent it from turning brown. Joyce Kinslow reported on the Creek County OHCE Rummage Sale May 4-6.
