Located right here in Bristow, on the corner of 7th and Chestnut, just up a flight of stairs in the Corwin Family Dentistry building, sits Blush Ink--one of Bristow’s most innovative businesses. Blush Ink officially opened for business in January of 2021, but owner Jennifer Conkling has been in the business of helping her clients feel more confident and beautiful by providing permanent cosmetics for more than fifteen years. Jennifer has been teaching the craft to others for over ten years. Now, she and her daughter, Abbi Hudson, have teamed up to offer their clients a full range of spa services, as well as permanent cosmetics and medaesthetics.

Not only do the mother-daughter duo provide their clientele with all the services often only available in larger cities, Jennifer is certified by the state of Oklahoma to train others in the art of permanent cosmetics. Currently, Jenny holds licensure in medical micropigmentation as well as being certified in intradermal cosmetics, med-aesthetics, and eyelash extensions. Interestingly, Jennifer didn’t always work upstairs above Corwin Family Dentistry running her own business. Her love of helping people started right downstairs where she worked as a dental assistant for Corwin Dentistry since 1996.

Jennifer has worked and lived in Bristow all of her life. She is married to Charles Conkling, Bristow’s fire chief who has been her biggest supporter. Jennifer says she loved working for the Corwin family in their dental practice and she credits them with helping her gain the assurance and experience she needed to make the leap into the permanent cosmetics arena. It was while working as a dental assistant that Jennifer was first introduced to the concept when a woman with permanent cosmetics license came into the dental office. Jennifer says the office buzzed with interest about the idea of it all. About the same time Oklahoma created a licensure board and she found a school in Moore, Oklahoma where she was trained and eventually gained her license.

As the saying goes, “like mother like daughter” and these two are no exception when it comes to career paths. Just as Jennifer started her path to permanent cosmetics in the medical field, Abbi, a graduate of Bristow High School class of 2017, had her sights set on working as a nurse. Abbi graduated as an LPN from Green Country Technology Center in 2019, Abbi continued to work in healthcare as an LPN, but the more time she spent seeing her mom’s business bring clients such joy and confidence, the more she considered joining in on the business of helping people feel beautiful. Abbi is now trained and certified in medical aesthetics and eyelash extensions, as well as being an LPN. Abbi says that one of her favorite parts of being in this business is seeing women share pictures, or make comments about how much more confident, or happy they feel after utilizing the services. Once Abbi was trained and ready to jump into her new career the pair excitedly worked to bring the vision of Blush Ink to fruition.

By joining forces, these two have been able to bring Bristow a business that offers more than cosmetic augmentation; it also serves as school of permanent cosmetics. Blush Ink is not only for those wanting to look and feel their best, but also a place where those wanting to earn their best can gain instruction. In three months, students can train to gain their very own certification to work in the field. A career that can be done in as little as 3 months with a tuition under 10K, right here in Bristow can and has already changed lives. The pair hope to help many more become successful in the art of aesthetics. They both credit God for being with them through the entire process of building Blush Ink. Anyone interested in their wide array of services, from sculpting pods to Botox, eyelash extensions to permanent eyeliner and everything in between, you can easily find more information on most social media platforms, or on their website, Blushink.net.
