A high speed chase ended in two fatalities after the vehicle ended up in the ditch and catch fire.

A facility was built for PAS MRO which is an aircraft building facility.

Bristow High School students and teacher Wyatt Freeman had a peaceful protest voicing their concerns over the death of George Floyd.

A group of protesters peacefully gathered at the corner of seventh and Main to voice their opinions on the death of George Floyd.

Cornerstone Church started giving out groceries weekly to people in need because of the pandemic.

Bristow held their Un-Prom 2020 for the students to still have a prom but with strict guidelines.

July

A mother and daughter lost their lives in a vehicle accident on Hwy 48.

The Leo of the Year for the Lions Clubs International was Zaria Wittman.

The Bristow Police Department, Bristow Fire Department, and the Bristow mayor honored a fallen officer, Sergeant Craig Johnson, by hanging a flag on the bridge as his body was transported to Oklahoma City to harvest the organs he donated.

The Boy Scout Troop 571 held a fundraiser called “Flags Across Bristow” where they will put up, take down, and store a 3x5 foot flag for those participating doing this on 6 holidays a year.

Depew held their graduation for the class of 2020 on the football field with Drew Baldridge of Nashville, Tennessee singing and playing music. The graduation was followed up with fireworks.

The Sam Varner Memorial Fireworks Celebration was held at Lake Massena.

Bristow Public School released a return to school plan with CDC guidelines being followed. mandatory for shoppers and employees.

Miss Tabouleh winners were Addison Palmer (Little Miss Tabouleh), Gabrielle Wilson ( Junior Miss Tabouleh), and Kimberlee Jones (Miss Tabouleh).

Dr. T. Reid McCullough was honored by the Rotary Club for his 62 years of dedication and service to the club, his community, and the world.

The First United Methodist Church was vandalized with lots of destruction to the church.

August

The railroad crossing on East Ninth Street got repaired after 152 phone calls came in for complaints on this crossing.

Bristow saw their second death from COVID-19.

The Bristow Medical Center was set to be closed by Bristow Endeavor. The city council members set forth discussions and obtained legal council to discuss possible litigations pertaining to the hospital operations and sublease agreement.

Brent Matherly was appointed to the Oklahoma Funeral Board.

Coronavirus cases continue to rise with Bristow cases at 147 and deaths at 5. The United States total deaths were 189,208.

Bristow man, Terrance Andrew Davis, was charged with 30 alleged sex crimes.

Bristow Lady Pirates had their senior night with senior Mariah Moody.

Meredith Corwin became the newest team member at Corwin Dentistry.

Kellyville toddler loses her arm in a horrible lawnmower accident.

A son, Stephen Haddock, Jr., shot his father, Stephen Ray Haddock, Sr., in the chest killing him.

A Bristow animal rescue organization rescued over 106 dogs’ lives and 3 chickens.

Bristow Lady Pirates became the Regional champions.

Brett Wesner was elected chair of the National Newspaper Association.

The Four Kings LE/MC and the Americas Guardians Motorcycle Club joined Bristow Mayor, Rick Pinson, on an Officer Down Fundraiser motorcycle ride.

Lady Pirates fast pitch softball team and their coach made All-District. McKenna Ingram got co-pitcher of the year, Kinzie Williams got offensive player of the year, Ava Yocham got first team-shortstop, Abby Morgan got first team-outfield, Molly Gill got first team-utility, Lacy Moody and Graycie Gramm got honorable mention.

Lady Pirates received Distinguished Academic Award from OSSAA, ranked in the upper 10 percent in Class 4A academically.

November

The first case of COVID-19 was reported in Bristow Schools.

U.S. Senator, Jim Inhofe, visited the Bristow News discussing items taking place in congress, the Coronavirus, and the military.

Veterans were honored by Bristow Public Schools in a virtual assembly.

Kellyville man, James Scott Robinson, was arrested on alleged murder charges for the death of Marcus Sewell.

Joe Biden was named winner of the Presidential election.

Basil Baker celebrated his 100th birthday and talked about his years in the service.

Oklahoma hit a record high in COVID-19 cases reporting 4,507 new cases in one day.

The Hawg Wild Toy Run was a success in collecting toys for the children in the area through Bristow Social Services.

First annual Bristow Bucks was scheduled with a group of volunteers.

The Bristow Garden Club sponsored the business decorating contest.

The annual Christmas parade was canceled for the year.

Local artist, Andy Levin, painted a mural for the Bristow Historical Museum.

December

Paike McNiel and Abby Bell were selected for the American Farmers & Ranchers/Oklahoma Farmers Union (AFR/OFU) 2020-2021 AFR Youth Advisory Council.

A remembrance of Pearl Harbor was done in the paper for the 79th anniversary of this attack.

A winning lottery ticket was purchased in Bristow at Coop’s Stop n Shop but the ticket winner was still unknown at that time.

Bristow Retail Merchants Association drew the winners for the Bristow Bucks give-a-way, giving out $4,000 in cash prizes.

A competition was done at the Pirate Action Skate Park with the winners being Jackson Moore (Scooter), Kobe Boyett (skateboard), and Overall winner Cade Williams.

Kinzie Williams received district offensive player of the year for her second year in a row.

Local ten year old boy, Marshall McRae, sewed 200 blankets for the elderly at the nursing home which included playing cards and candy with a note for each person.

Russell Davis of Kellyville lost his life in a vehicle accident.

4A-3 District winners were quarterback of the year Stephon Tolon, offensive lineman of the year Kaylon Tolon, defensive tackle of the year Fabian Bradford, and kicker of the year Caleb Ritchie.
