The Boy Scout Troop #571 attended the VFW Post 3656 meeting Tuesday night. They were invited to attend our evening meal and to speak with the VFW members about doing a flag retirement which may be sometime in January and will be open to anyone in the community. Amos Ingram, the assistant Troop Leader along with two of the Boy Scouts senior leaders, Jacob Ingram and Nathan Burgett spoke about the ceremony involved in retiring the American flag. They laid out a plan to the VFW members on how they will be conducting the ceremony and what steps are taken to retire an American flag properly and respectfully. After they concluded speaking about the plan of the flag retirement, they took questions from the members.

They were asked about the flag program that they have being doing for citizens in Bristow. The Boy Scouts will place a PVC pipe in the ground that will be used for the flag placement. This program comes with a 3 foot by 5-foot flag, a pole for the flag and a light that will shine on the flag itself. The Boy Scouts will place the flag in the customers yard for six national holidays and remove it at the end of the holiday. They will store the flags and maintain them throughout the year. If anyone is interested in a flag setup please call or text Amos Ingram at (918) 605-0768 or email the Boy Scouts at bristowtroop571@gmail.com. If anyone has a flag that needs to be retired, you can call Amos Ingram, or they can be dropped off at the VFW Post.
