For as long as this writer’s memory stretches, the Bristow Noon Lions Club has hosted an annual pancake breakfast. The fundraiser helps the club provide eyeglasses for children in need. Recently, the club announced its upcoming breakfast on March 4 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the cafeteria at Edison Elementary School at 9th Avenue and Main Street.

Many Bristowans look forward to the all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast each year. The breakfast features fluffy pancakes and Blue and Gold sausage, a wise and delicious pairing given our penchant for seeking out students selling the brand’s meats. Moreover, and in a considerate nod to the preferences of its patrons, the Lions offer two options for diners to enjoy the meal: dine-in or carry-out. The proceeds of each breakfast ticket purchased go toward the fulfillment of the Lions Club missions.

According to its Facebook page, the Bristow Noon Lions Club serves to fulfill its global missions of reducing the prevalence of diabetes and improving the quality of life for diabetics as well as serving to prevent avertable blindness and improving the quality of life for the visually impaired. Specifically, long-time member David Barnett notes the proceeds from the breakfast will go toward the purchase of eyeglasses for schoolchildren in need. Mr. Barnett noted the eyeglass program is his favorite, most meaningful project with the Lions. He said, “If we can catch a child before their vision negatively impacts them and changes their attitudes towards learning, it changes their lives.”

Tickets for the breakfast may be purchased at $8 each for anyone twelve years of age or older and at $4 each for those under the age of twelve. Tickets may be purchased by visiting http://my-business-101937-108672.square.site/ or scanning the QR code found on the organization's flyers; alternatively, tickets may also be purchased from any Bristow Noon Lions Club member.

Additionally, the club meets every Wednesday from September through May, on days Bristow Public Schools are in session, at the Bristow First United Methodist Church on the southwest corner of East 7th Avenue and Chestnut Street. Anyone is welcomed to attend a meeting and check out the club. In fact, a Lions member will buy your lunch!
