Little toddler, Mackenzie Woods, of Kellyville, lost part of her arm in an unfortunate accident last weekend.

Miracle Woods, Mackenzie's mother, stated the little girl wanted to hop on her grandparent's lawnmower over the weekend. She tripped and part of her right arm was amputated.

The accident happened just down the road from where Kellyville Assistant Chief of Police Dustin Tiner lives. Tiner was off duty at the time. He heard the call go out so he showed up at the scene to help in anyway he could, as he had learned the ambulance was still in Bristow.

Because the residence where the accident happened was several miles down a gravel road, instead of waiting there, Tiner decided to go ahead and put the young girl in his car. Tiner held onto young Mackenzie, putting pressure on her wound, while he was driving. The ambulance had taken a wrong turn while trying to meet up with Tiner. The fire department was also responding and firefighter Mikayla Staiger ended up on the same road as Tiner. Staiger, who is also an EMT and police officer, sat in the back seat with Mackenzie, applying a tourniquet to her arm. The team then met up with the ambulance who rushed Mackenzie to the hospital. Doctors said if it hadn't been for the application of the tourniquet, the young girl would have bled out. It was the first tourniquet Staiger had ever applied.

Mackenzie went through two surgeries and two blood transfusions last week and underwent her third surgery on Friday. It is reported that the young girl is in good spirits and is taking all this like a champ.
