Kellyville man injured in New Year’s Day accident

On New Year's Day at approximatley 5:30 p.m., a collision occurred on OK Highway 48 approximately ½ mile south of Carson Ridge Road, four miles south of Mannford.

A 2015 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Jacob Frantz, age 26, of Kellyville, was traveling northbound on Hwy 48 when he lost control on the icy roadway, departing the roadway to the right, overturning the truck one time and impacting a tree. The cause of the accident was unsafe speed on a snow packed roadway. Frantz was pinned in the vehicle for apprximately one hour before being freed by Freedom Hill Fire Department using the Hurst tool.

Frantz was transported by Creek County EMS to St. John's Medical Center, in Tulsa where he was admitted in good condition with leg and trunk injuries. Seat belts were in use and the airbags did deploy.
