The Oklahoma State University Alumni Association is honoring Jami Longacre and six others as OSU Distinguished Alumni Award recipients.
This year’s honorees will be recognized at a public reception at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center on Friday, Sept. 18. They will also be honored during the Murray State vs. OSU football game on Sept. 19 at Boone Pickens Stadium.
Jami Longacre graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in agricultural economics in 1993. While at OSU, she was active in Chi Omega sorority, serving on its executive committee and supporting the chapter’s philanthropy benefiting the Make-AWish Foundation.
During her time at OSU, Longacre was selected as an OSU Agricultural Legislative Intern at the Oklahoma State Capitol–an experience that helped shape her career in public policy and advocacy. More than three decades later, Longacre and her husband, John, continue to support the program to future OSU agricultural students who can benefit from the same opportunity. That commitment came full circle in 2026 when their son, Turner, an OSU senior studying animal science and agricultural business, was selected for the program. Jami and Turner hold the unique distinction of being the only parent and child to have both served as OSU Agricultural Legislative Interns.
Following graduation, Longacre worked for the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture under the Secretary of Agriculture and later served as Director of Policy and Governmental Affairs for the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association. She went on to become the first female Executive Director of the Oklahoma Beef Council, where she helped implement the Beef Quality Assurance program and launch the inaugural Oklahoma Beef Quality Summit at OSU.
Longacre returned to the State Capitol and founded Longacre Inc., an all-female, full-service legislative consulting firm. As president, she has spent more than three decades navigating complex public policy issues and representing clients before the Oklahoma Legislature, executive branch and state agencies.
Throughout her career, Longacre has helped advance numerous initiatives benefiting OSU, including the Robert M. Kerr Food & Agricultural Products Center; OSU Cooperative Extension funding; stabilization of the OSU Medical Center Teaching Hospital in Tulsa; endowed chairs and rural medical residency programs; and major investments in the new OSU Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and OSU Agronomy Laboratory.
Longacre was named a Distinguished Alumni of the Ferguson College of Agriculture in 2024, and she and John are members of the Proud and Immortal Society. She is a past chair of Women for OSU, serves on the OSU Foundation Board of Governors, the Code Calls National Campaign committee has served on the OSU Alumni Association Board and Dean of Agriculture’s Advisory Council.
Jami and John are longtime supporters of OSU through scholarships, organizations, the New Frontiers campaign and OSU Athletics. They own and operate Crown Auto World – Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and RRAM, in Bristow, Oklahoma and live on their cattle ranch in Kellyville with their son Turner. She is a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association and a life plus member of the OSU Alumni Association.
