Faith Baptist Church of Slick held their annual Faith Country Christmas experience on the evenings of Saturday, December 9, and Sunday, December 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. According to Faith Baptist Church Pastor Steve Lamberson, this year marked the fourth or fifth year the church has hosted the event, and each year, the church enhances the experience in size and quality. All activities were free to the public.

Event activities included bounce houses for children, a visit with Santa Claus, hot chocolate and cookies, and a wagon ride through the Christmas story. The Christmas story was set up in multiple stage areas around the church’s property directly south of the church and pond. Visitors experienced the story while aboard one of three horse drawn wagons. Once aboard a wagon, visitors were treated to the live music of carolers and the Christmas story as narrated live by a narrator also aboard each wagon.

In total, Lamberson estimated around 700 to 800 people attended Faith Country Christmas. He noted that about 60 cast members presented the Christmas story with around 20 more serving at the events’ other attractions.

Pastor Lamberson chuckled as he said, “Our claim to fame is we’re the only church in Oklahoma that triples the population of the town on Sundays.” On those days, the church hosts around 400 parishioners. One could safely say, then, that the church went above and beyond for Faith Country Christmas. If you missed the experience this year, be sure to add a reminder to your calendar for next year and keep a watchful eye for flyers on social media and your community newspaper.
