The Bristow City Council met Monday evening in the council board room to discuss city, municipal and hospital authority items. The board began the meeting by approving the minutes from the Oct. 19, 2020 meeting along with maintenance and payroll claims.

The board discussed installing speed bumps just west of 12th and Pecan Ave. Councilwoman Kris Wyatt told the board she felt it necessary to install the speed bumps. Wyatt stated there is construction in that area and it has become a speedway. There are no sidewalks and the children from the school walk that area. It has become a hazard. Wyatt stated they had speed bumps available that could be installed and easily removed if needed. There were also Child At Play signs available that could be installed. Tara Johnson, a resident of the area, had a signed petition from the residents on the block who wish to see the speed bumps installed. For the safety of the community, the board unanimously approved installation of the speed bumps.

Item number eight on the city agenda was discussion and possible approval of a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Bristow, the Bristow Hospital Authority and Bristow Endeavor Healthcare regarding the potential construction of a new hospital. Mayor Pinson made a motion which was approved by the board that it was in the best interest of the city and the council to table this item and all items pertaining to hospital business for two weeks.

On the Hospital Authority side of the meeting, items nine – 12 were all tabled for two weeks. The items ranged from a Memorandum of Understanding between the city, hospital authority and Bristow Endeavor for construction of a new hospital, settlement and release agreement between the the hospital authority and Endeavor, amendment No. 1 to the sublease agreement and operations and maintenance contracts between the authority and Endeavor. Albert Kelly, attorney for Endeavor, asked to address the council. Kelly told the council he was surprised that the board tabled the Memorandum of Understanding, as he was told the board would make the decision during this meeting. He stated he was concerned as time goes by, they think they have a deal and they actually don't is very puzzling, to say the least, and his concern is that if they don't bring the matter to a conclusion and continuing to let the matter sit is not beneficial to anyone, the city or Endeavor.

The board will meet again on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020.
