A recent medication takeback event was held in Bristow in partnership with the Bristow Police Department, Creek County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, and Oklahoma State Department of Wellness Programs. Although the event was held on a very cold day of the year, we collected 28 pounds of medication. According to the CDC, you should dispose of unused or expired prescription medicine as soon as possible. Timely disposal of prescription medicine can reduce the risk of others taking the medication accidentally or misusing the medication intentionally. One of best and most environmentally friendly ways to dispose of your prescription medicine is through a take-back event or at a medication drop-box. You can find local medication drop boxes at the Bristow Police Department and Kemps Drug & Gifts. For more information about safe disposal please feel free to contact K'Cee Scoggins at kcee.scoggins@okstate.edu.
