In recent weeks, area residents noticed new activity at the old Bookout’s location at Oak Street and First Avenue. Many wondered if The Feedlot, a shortlived restaurant at the same location during a few months of last year, was returning. The Feedlot will not be reopening; however, hungry families from around the community will be back in the building as a new restaurant opens its doors, planning to connect with friends and family and feeding them.

On December. 28, Bristow’s own Mike and Melinda Gordon opened their first eatery: B-Town Grill. According to Melinda, the couple have dreamt of opening their own restaurant, combining their loves of delicious food, cooking and community.

The Gordons moved to Bristow about ten years ago for work and to be with family. They quickly formed connections throughout the community, falling in love with the camaraderie amongst residents, the family feel of the town, new friends, businesses, and neighbors. For those reasons, they stayed and raised their children, investing in Bristow through work and family. It is their commitment to the community, coupled with their dreams of bringing tasty, homecooked meals to customers, leading them to open B-Town Grill.

At the restaurant, patrons will find Melinda running the restaurant full-time, fulfilling her dream. Mike and their two daughters, Alexis and Kaitlyn, will sometimes work at B-Town Grill as well. The family chooses to serve Bristow its best meals at afford able prices, together, in the same way they hope the community comes together to enjoy a good meal with each other and their family at B-Town Grill.

As for the scrumptious homecooked food, Melinda will be serving up a menu of items similar to those previously offered by Bookout’s, including burgers, chili, and chicken and fish dishes. She will serve her own homemade potato salad, baked beans, and chili. Additionally, she will bread her own fried items like chicken and onion rings. Melinda and Mike want customers to leave satisfied, so they even made sure to include a little something for everyone with specialized diets.

Gluten-free customers can find plenty of tasty options on the menu including chili, grilled chicken and fish, beans, salads, bunless burgers, and barbecued meats. Vegetarians will find a variety of delicious foods as well from salads to potato and side dishes and irresistible appetizers like Melinda’s own spinach and artichoke dip. Even those patrons with special dietary needs, such as bariatric patients, will find they are able to purchase half-orders of their favorite menu items. For taco-loving diners, Taco Tuesday specials will alternate Indian tacos and street tacos every other week.

Melinda and Mike do it all for one reason: “We want to provide good food and a good service at an affordable price for the community to enjoy.” They continued with a request, saying “Please be patient and understanding with us. This is our first restaurant ven ture. We’re learning as we grow. We’re not trying to take advantage of anyone. We want you to have a good experience with us. If there’s a problem, please let us or your server know. We will do our best to make it right.”

As the eatery grows, the Gordons plan to offer catering on weekends and host special events. They will even be introducing a dedicated delivery service for B-Town Grill soon. If you would like to visit B-Town Grill, they are open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and are closed Saturday thru Monday each week.
