Shape Your Future encourages Oklahomans to stay physically active to improve overall health.

April is National Move More Month, and Shape Your Future, a program of the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET), encourages Oklahomans to spring into play and physical activity to become healthier.

Shape Your Future participates in National Move More Month by encouraging Oklahoma adults to get the recommended amount of daily physical activity – 30 minutes for adults and 60 minutes for children. The National Move More Month Campaign, sponsored by the American Heart Association, occurs every April to encourage movement and aims to improve the health of Americans everywhere.

“Healthy habits learned young last for a lifetime, and it’s important for adults to talk the talk and walk the walk, as they say. As parents and caregivers, adults can have a tremendous impact in supporting healthy habits by role modeling healthy behaviors,” said Julie Bisbee, executive director of TSET. “Over 70% of Oklahoma kids don’t get enough daily physical activity. Shape Your Future provides free workout plans, downloads and exercise videos for Oklahoma families to enjoy physical activity together to help them live healthier lives.”

American Heart Association free workouts:

The American Heart Association has teamed up with a variety of fitness instructors and experts to take over the American Heart Association YouTube page every Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. CDT throughout April to guide families and individuals through living roomfriendly virtual workouts, including sessions on stretching, yoga and Pilates.
