Bristow sees increase of 27 confirmed cases since Friday, another death from the virus

Thirty three thousand doses of the COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Oklahoma on Monday. Officials are saying by the end of the year, Oklahoma is to receive 166,000 doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vacines.

The vaccine will be received and given in different stages. Right now the state said front line workers will get the first shot. The vaccine will be available for the general population early Spring. Is this beginning of the end to this deadly virus?

Oklahoma Health's Chief of Infectious Disease Dr. Douglas Dreverts says, “I see a light at the end of the tunnel as long as Oklahomans trust and get the vaccine. I am hopeful by the end of February and into March, we will see a serious drop in new infections.”

To date there has been a total of over 16 million confirmed cases in the U.S. since March and a reported 300,419 deaths. Oklahoma has a reported 241,991 cases and 2,086 deaths while Creek County is reporting 3,295 confirmed cases and 55 deaths. Bristow is seeing a sky rocketing increase in cases. As of Tuesday, Dec. 15, Bristow is reporting to have 474 confirmed cases and 11 deaths since the pandemic began.

Too many people have lost their lives due to this virus. Every Oklahoman needs to do their part in helping stop the spread of this deadly disease. Even after the vaccine has been administered, every person will still need to do their share of helping slow the spread.
