Which Words Work Best?

With all the conflicting messages in the world today, how can we be absolutely certain that the words we are hearing, and more important, what we are accepting, are really those which bring the best results?

The words that work best are first truthful. If what you are listening to is not trustworthy, then the end result will not be what you wanted, nor what you expected.

The best words are those which get the intended result. In the case of this article, what is the result? Eternal life! Isn’t that what you and I really want?

Being with people who share our interests is comforting. Being around like-minded family and friends is very pleasant. If you are on friendly terms with your preacher, that can also be an affable relationship.

In the days of Jesus, farmers would cast out their seed from a pouch. Not all seeds fell where the farmer had hoped. Jesus used this scene to explain where you fit into God’s plan. Please read this parable in your Bible in Mark 4:1-20.

“He was teaching...saying to them in His teaching, Listen to this!” Those words are commanding!

Jesus goes on to teach, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow; and it came about that as he was sowing, some seed fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate it up.

“And other seed fell on rocky ground where it did not have much soil; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of soil. And after the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

“And other seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no crop.

“And other seed fell in the good soil, and as they grew up and increased, they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundred fold.

“And He was saying, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” These words of Jesus tell us that this is a serious message for all people.

In Jesus’ explanation to His disciples, He gives the clear meaning. The sower sows God’s word. Some are deceived by Satan, and the word doesn’t take root; some receive it joyfully, but then they quickly fall away when troubles arise.

Some are too busy with things in this world and allow those things to choke the word in their lives. Some hear the word with a good heart, accept it, and bear fruit in their lives.

Words are very powerful, especially when they come from the mouth of God. Listen to God’s word and allow Him to work in your life!
