What Are Your Storms?

Mothers weep while cradling their babies. Men, too feeble to flee, are crying. Husbands, wives, young school children and teenagers shiver from the cold. Some cradle a valuable pet. Most only had time to dress and leave home. All sit on a cold concrete floor in a dark and smelly basement room. You are now like them; a refugee! Your storm has come.

Each of you need to know Jesus in times such as this. Fear, confusion, helplessness, and hopelessness fill every heart.

Millions flee homes, friends, neighbors, and even family. Many walk tens of miles to escape. Cars are abandoned, having run out of gas. Who can help? You start the long trek to safety, security, sanity.

Approaching the neutral border people are smiling and welcoming. Hot food, water, and a warm blanket are offered. Many are weeping. All are dehumanized. You sigh, relieved.

Buses are coming and going day and night. All night! They take refugees to comfortable shelters. You are grateful for these caring and generous strangers. The storm is passing! Jesus is among these rescuers. These are His people. They will soon tell you why they volunteered to leave a comfortable home, traveling so far at their expense, to be there for you. It was an irresistible tugging on their hearts,

Scriptures teach us why these people help. “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture” ( John10:9). Jesus saves those who enter His fold. They will “find pasture.” He provides!

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” ( Joh10:10). Satan is working to annihilate His followers. Jesus came bringing abundant life.

Giving sacrificially is a trait of His followers. “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” ( John10:11). Christians sacrificially give for Ukrainian refugees because Jesus gave sacrificially for them. They don’t do it to earn “points,” nor for cudos. They do it to give glory to the One who gave everything. mothers and children and farms…and in the age to come, eternal life” Mark 10:29-30).

Life won’t always be easy, but it gets better when you become a Christian. Life beyond this world is “eternal life.” Your storm is less frightening!
