Since May 1, I have been engaging in weekly meetings with Chief of Police Raney and Assistant Chief Webster to address matters pertaining to public safety within our City. During our most recent discussion, we focused on the topic of safety within our schools. It is worth noting that Bristow Public Schools has a dedicated School Resource Officer who is present on a daily basis when school is in session. These officers actively patrol the premises, ensure the functionality of security systems, and engage with both students and faculty. The presence of law enforcement personnel within our schools, as well as in our neighborhoods and at various events, plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of trust among our youth. In light of recent incidents elsewhere, plans are currently being revised to enhance police presence at athletic events. It is important to emphasize that the Police Department places utmost importance on public safety, with school safety being of paramount concern. Consequently, school safety procedures are consistently reassessed and updated. Should you have any inquiries or concerns in this regard, we encourage you to contact either the school superintendent or the police department.

In line with our commitment to public safety, Assistant Chief Webster is currently organizing a series of seminars focused on 'Active Shooter' situations. These seminars will be made available to the general public, as well as churches, civic groups, and other organizations. Further details regarding these seminars will be provided in the near future.
