One of my favorite songs is The Anchor Holds because it the story of my life: I have journeyed through the long, dark night; Out on the open sea by faith alone sight unknown; and yet His eyes were watching me; though the ship is battered, though the sails are torn; The anchor holds in spite of the storm.

But it was in the night, through the storms of my life; Oh, that's where God proved His love to me; The anchor holds—though the ship is battered; The anchor holds—though the sails are torn; I have fallen on my knees as I faced the raging seas; The anchor holds in spite of the storm You see . . . even though my ship was mostly battered from my own doing . . . and although I was usually the one responsible for my sails being torn—GOD LOVED ME! Regardless of how far I had strayed and how much damage I had done to my life—HE STILL LOVED ME! He healed my shipwrecked life . . . He rebuilt my ship to His specifications, and He replaced the sails I had torn with seamless materials.

Folks, it is God’s desire that we ALL be healed. Despite the amount of times you’ve run your ship aground. Regardless of your grieving and loss, your life’s most difficult experiences, life’s emotional devastation, startling nightmares, your most frightening haunting memories . . . I want you to know there is Freedom through God’s miraculous Healing, and He is ready and willing to heal you.

I love the passage of Scripture in Luke 4 where Jesus has just come from being tempted in the desert by Satan, and as usual, Jesus first stop is to teach in the synagogues. However, on the Sabbath, He went to the synagogue at Nazareth as was His custom. When He arrived, He stood up to read the Scriptures. The Scroll of Isaiah was given to Him. He unrolled the scroll and began to read: “ 18 The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for He has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,” Folks . . . there is freedom through the healing power of Jesus the Christ!

Everyone needs some kind of Divine healing, and His healing is the same for both the heart, the mind, and the soul. It is complete and always miraculous. All need begins with some affliction—maybe it is a physical sickness or ailment. If He made the lame walk, the blind see, and the leper clean—nothing you have going on is too big for Him.

Maybe yours is a psychological impairment or an emotional downheartedness . . . maybe depression—He can provide hope, clarity, joy, and peace. Perhaps you are caught up in a relationship based on sexual sin or relational dysfunction— He can forgive and heal you from your sinful carnal nature and guilt.

The need for healing arises from either a sense of hopelessness or helplessness. All require a faith that life can be different or made whole. Each requires a cry out of need to Him. If you do, He will meet your need! The Father not only sent His Son that we might have eternal life, but that He would also heal those who need healing and set free those who are captives and oppressed.
