Mayor Kris Wyatt

Hello! This week I’d like to share some ideas on what a citizen could do to be a “good citizen.”

Indulge me here: 1. Register to vote. Registration applications can be accepted at any time but must be received at least 25 days prior to an election to be accepted for that election. Check out www. voterportal. okelections.

us to learn more. 2. Register your storm shelter with the Bristow Fire Department. In the event of a shelterseeking event, the FD will know where to conduct wellness checks.

3. Please make sure your house numbers are prominently displayed, if first responders are sent to your home. 4. Shop local. Local businesses often employ your neighbors, contribute to local taxes, and reinvest in the community. 5. Participate in community events. Attend fundraisers, festivals, town hall and public meetings, school plays, sporting events and concerts.

6. Be a responsible pet owner. Spay or neuter your pets. Tag your dogs.

7. Recycle. There is a free recycling site located at 1723 South Poplar. It accepts #1 and #2 plastics, steel cans, aluminum cans, glass, and cardboard. Materials need to be separated.

8. Get interested and perhaps involved in local government. Attend a City Council meeting, either in person or online. Check the city website for updates and upcoming events.

9. Volunteer. Any of the local non-profits would likely love to have some help.

10. Return your shopping carts to the proper place.

As always, I would love to hear from you with any concerns.
