Dear Editor,

Rebirth of the Woodland Queen

The Bristow Tabouleh Festival and Wildflower Run are sure signs that Spring is here, but it is more than that. As I walked the Wildflower route, the Bristow I remember was everywhere. The smells of Spring, the sight of people enjoying the Wildflower and the volunteers that helped keep everyone on track as well as the citizens of Bristow cheering on the contestants; it brought back memories. As I walked Main Street after the Wildflower Run had concluded I could see people crowding every corner enjoying a beautiful Spring day. Businesses were open and busy, vendors lined the streets and I don’t recall one person that did not have a smile on their face. As I walked along I encountered several old friends and we visited on each occasion but one old friend I had not seen since 1973; thank you Joey Trigalet for the visit and walk down memory lane! After visiting with Joey I decided to get a snow cone and sat down in the shade of one of the Historic buildings of Bristow. It was there that I watched the people through these old eyes and was taken back to another time in my life when I was a student at BHS. I remember Main Street being this alive every day and I felt a euphoric feeling come over me and I was 16 again. I realized that I was watching an old flower that had been dormant coming back to life and beginning to bloom again. To all the people, especially the volunteers, that made the Tabouleh Festival and Wildflower Run happen; you are the chosen gardeners of this flower. Feed it, water it until it blooms into the most beautiful flower in the state of Oklahoma.
