The Longer Route

Image
Body

I meant to save time driving to work by taking a different route. It would be longer, but I would miss all the road construction on my usual route. I left earlier. Along the way, I stopped to let a number of baby ducks cross the highway. What a surprise to see them there.

After traveling approximately ten miles, I encountered road construction on this route, too! Oh, well, at least I got to see the baby ducks and would not have if I had not taken the longer route. It reminded me of Robert Burns’ poem “The Mouse” which states: “The best laid plans of mice and men gang aft agley.” My plan did go awry, but it is okay.

Discussion: Do your plans always turn out the way you want? Can you find something positive from when plans do not go as hoped? What would be the benefit if you did?
