Did You Know That?

A recent Gallup poll of Americans determined that the Bible is accepted as the inspired word of God by only 20% of those surveyed! Twenty percent! Does this surprise you? Did you know that? What do you think about the Bible?

In ancient times the most educated people thought that the Earth was suspended by strings or was sitting on top of a turtle. Some thought that a man named Atlas held up the world on his shoulders.

Scientific men also believed and taught that the Earth is flat. In spite of Columbus’ discovery during his 1492 voyage that the world is actually more round than flat, some people today still insist that the world is flat. Did you know that?

In the Bible book of Job (like Joe with a “b” on the end), he says about God, “He stretches out the north over empty space and hangs the Earth on nothing” ( Job26:7). This bit of scientific knowledge was known during the earliest Bible times. The science of gravity is revealed here. Sir Isaac Newton discovered it in 1783, long after the Bible said it. Did you know that?

About 150 years ago archaeologists refused to accept that the Hittite Empire ever existed. In Genesis 49:30 Abraham makes a purchase of land from “Ephron the Hittite.” Preposterous, said the archaeologists! In the late 19th century a large fortification was discovered buried in a remote area under Turkish soil. It was the Hittite capital city of Hattusha! Did you know that?

When the Psalmist praised God for His creation he wrote, “Whatever passes through the paths of the seas, Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!” Psalms 8:8-9). British Captain Matthew Maury published his observances of the winds and ocean currents in 1847. Yet, the Psalmist knew about these natural events several hundred years earlier.

Solomon wrote, “Blowing toward the south, then turning toward the north, the wind continues swirling along; and on its circular courses the wind returns. All the rivers flow into the sea, yet the sea is not full. To the place where the rivers flow, there they flow again.” (Ecclesiastes:6-7).

How did Solomon know about the earth’s jet stream and the water cycle? Today these are scientific facts! Only the Creator of these natural causes could have told him! This is the only logical explanation. Did you know that?

Only twenty percent of Americans believe the Bible is from God because they don’t know what you now know. Look for some other scientific, historic, and prophetic truths in your own Bible. Then, BELIEVE!
