Janet Minyard-Taylor, mother of two daughters, Jordan and Lauren, moved to Bristow in 2017. Immediately prior to that time, her soon-to-be husband lived in Davenport and her eldest daughter in Tulsa. Her daughter requested she move nearer to her to make visiting easier, so Janet created a list of must-haves for a community she could call home. Then, her family created a list of six northeastern Oklahoma communities closer to her eldest daughter that fit Janet’s criteria. Slowly and methodically working through each community on the list, Janet chose Bristow to be her new home. Soon after she made her choice, she and her family bought an RV and moved to Bristow.

Not long after moving, inclement winter weather hit the Bristow area. Not wanting to get out in the icy mess, she decided to order a pizza for herself and her youngest daughter only to discover that there were no delivery options anywhere within the community. Disappointed and flabbergasted that a community possessed no delivery options, Janet began to contemplate starting her own delivery service to fill a community need and learn more about the city into which she was settling and beginning to call home.

In the following months, Janet pondered creating a delivery service more and more. The community could benefit from the service, and it could offer her a flexible means to support her family and learn more the community. In the meantime, she faced two major surgeries, which gave her the time she needed to finalize her business plans as she healed.

After she healed from the surgeries, Janet moved forward with plans to open her delivery service, and on March 31, 2020, Taylor-Made Delivery became a reality. Given the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, her timing proved beneficial. Initially only delivering from a few businesses, she quickly began expanding her delivery options as the need and desire for deliveries grew throughout the last year with many people choosing to stay home more. Janet will deliver from any local business.

Janet is available for deliveries from 10 a.m. til 9 p.m. every day of the week and will deliver both within and outside of the city limits; however, the further she must drive to deliver, the more the delivery costs. Her best tip for current and prospective customers proves to be a must-do for the delivery to be timely and go smoothly: customers must call before placing an order to verify her availability to deliver it.

As for her customers, Janet conveyed that they are her favorite parts of the Bristow community. She loves her customers. Janet revealed that being trusted and relied upon by people to deliver their items, act as a confidant, and be allowed into their homes or to be a part of their lives, even if only for a few, great and gives Janet all the proof she needs to know she is making a difference. She plans to continue delivering for as long as her community needs her.
