After a long investigation, an alleged suspect, Michael McCalister, has been arrested by the Tulsa Police Department in a string of burglaries in Tulsa, Claremore, Collinsville, Catoosa, Pryor and Bristow's Kenny's Convenience Store. After the break in at Kenny's, the Bristow Police were able to get a license plate number off a flock camera and forwared that information on to the Tulsa Police who made the arrest.
Investigators say that Mc-Calister and an accomplice or accomplices have been doing Smash-and-Grabs at several stores in different areas for quite some time. It started with a series of liquor store smash-and-grabs months ago, then went on to convenience stores. McCalister's consistent MO is what did him in. According to surveillance videos, the suspect almost always drove the same vehicle, a gray Jeep SUV. The tag number to the vehicle was put out there and immediately calls were received from other agencies with similar cases. After the arrest, it was found out that they also hit Oilton, Olive and Drumright stores.
Friday, Aug. 16, Kenny's Convenience Store, in Bristow, was hit by the suspects with damages estimated to be over $20,000. The video shows the alleged suspects parking in the alley behind the store and pulling two trash cans from the vehicle. The suspects also brought their own large rock to throw through the front door of the establishment. It is obvious that the suspects knew what they were doing and had done it before as it was very quick, in and out. The video shows the suspects throwing cartoons of cigarettes into the trash can and hauling to the vehicle in the alley. The alleged suspects took more than 249 boxes of cigarettes from Kenny's plus damage to his establishment.
Thanks to video surveillance at certain businesses and a flock camera outside Bristow, McCallister was arrested at a house in Owasso where police found clothes that matched the burglaries, a face mask, a landscaping rock and a City of Tulsa trash can in the garage. Police are still looking for others that were involved. McCalister was booked into David. L Moss Jail in Tulsa on six counts of second degree burglary. Records show that McCallister has spent time in prison for gun convictions, assault, robbery and drugs.
