Little Olympics at Hafer Field

As each school year comes to an end, elementary school students make a trip to Hafer Field to compete in their school’s “Little Olympics”.To wrap the 2023-2024 year, Edison Elementary School held its Little Olympics on Wednesday,May 1,and Collins Elementary School held its competitions the following day, Thursday, May 2. Around 360 students of each school competed in a variety of events throughout the day.

Ravel to Rte 66 Free Concert

As part of the Historical Society’s Kick Off To The Smithsonian, we are proud to announce a free concert this Friday night. The Signature Quartet's next Ravel to Route 66 performance will be this Friday, May 17th, at 6pm in the town square in Bristow.

Bristow Hisorical Society receive grant

The Bristow Historical Society, Inc. is pleased to announce it has received a $5974 grant from Oklahoma Humanities. The grant will be used to assist in funding the Smithsonian Exhibition, “Voices and Votes,” which will allow the Historical Society to provide access to, and resources for, the humanities in our community.

Millions more go to Oklahoma hospitals as managed care begins

The SHOPP tax for hospitals increased to the maximum of 4% this year, up from 3.5%. The tax isn’t levied on more than 35 rural hospitals that are designated critical-access hospitals, although they are eligible for the enhanced directed payments under managed care.

VFW Won Civic Trophy As noted last week, Bristow Public Schools alum Carl Chasteen worked with Wildflower Run organizers and the City of Bristow to include a civic organization competition within the greater event. Bristow’s VFW Post 3656 took home the trophy in its inaugural year.

Historical Society displays one-ofa- kind collectible documents

In addition to the Smithsonian’s Exhibition, “Voices and Votes”, the Bristow Historical Society is proud to announce that we will be displaying several one-of-akind, collectible documents related to American history from the Scott and Karah Peters Family Collection. This part of the exhibit will only be available in Bristow’s “Voices and Votes” display for a limited time and during specific hours between June 1 st & July 13 th , 2024. For the next few weeks, we will share a few more details about several of the display pieces so you can understand how special this collection is to our community and to American history.
