The voters chose “No” to change Bristow’s form of government to a council-city manager form and to continue moving Bristow forward with the mayorcouncil form, which Bristow has had for years. A lot of voters and non-voters have voiced their opinions on the pros and cons of a city manager position but the people voted to continue moving Bristow forward with the elected mayor, a person the voters themselves elect into office.
Proposition 1 failed with a 51 percent (324) No votes to 49 percent (312) Yes votes. Proposition 2 failed with 51 percent (324) No votes to 49 percent (312) Yes’s while Proposition 3 failed to pass with 51 percent (322) No votes and 49 percent (312) Yes votes. Proposition 4 passed with 54 percent (341) Yes votes and 46 percent (292) of Yes’s.
The current mayor’s term will expire in 2023 when a new mayor will be elected or reelected by the people.
