This year the Bristow community will celebrate the 34th annual Wildflower Run and Tabouleh Festival on Saturday, May 14. The fun filled, eventful day begins with the Fun Run, which is a 1K run. This event will begin at 8:45 a.m., followed by the 5K Run. Local runners, along with runners from all over, come to participate in this 3.1 mile run. Some are repeat runners, who attend the Wildflower Run yearly.
Each year someone is selected and the run is dedicated to that person. This year Kris Wyatt was chosen and presented with the Wildflower Run t-shirt. According to Dr. Chip Cooper, Wyatt was the obvious candidate. Not only is she into healthy living, Wyatt is a champion cook. She has been on the Bristow City Council for three years and currently holds the council seat. In February 2021, Wyatt launched Replenysh Recycling events. All proceeds from the events are donated to local charities. In 2007, Wyatt helped start the Bristow Habitat for Humanity affiliate. The affiliate was closed sometime ago and recently transferred the balance of the funds to the Bristow Area Social Services. Approxmately six years ago, Wyatt started a Yoga studio and in 2019 started a pilot program to teach yoga in the Creek County Jail. It was a great program but unfortunately was discontinued due to the pandemic. Wyatt said, “ It is a crazy, ridiculous honor to have Dr. Cooper put my picture on the t-shirt for the Wildflower Run. I am humbled.” Chief of Police Raney said, “Kris is a breath of fresh air and has a generous heart. Bristow is blessed to have a kind, free spirited person, with lots of ideas to move Bristow forward.”
