The 33rd annual Wildflower Run is getting close. This year the run will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021. The run starts at 9 a.m..
This year the run will be dedicated to all the runners, but honorable mention goes out to two Bristow residents, Jerry Drake and Bill Beaver. These two guys walk every day, never missing a day if at all possible. They both walk as fast as they can, every day, for approximately one hour. Both say they faithfully do this everyday as they feel it has helped both of them tremendously with health issues. Drake, at age 79, is a diabetic and walking helps not only with his overall health but also helps keep his blood sugar intact. Beaver says he had openheart surgery and was told that walking is good for his heart, therefore, he has been walking every day for the past six years. Drake and Beaver will lead off the race.
Local runners, as well as runners from out of town, and walkers, will gather to make the 5K Run on Saturday morning, May 8. Bristow was unable to have the run last year, due to COVID-19, so this year is expected to have a great turnout of runners. Entries for the run are available at both Community Bank and SpiritBank.
