County Proposition passed by voters, City of Bristow Propositions 1-6 all get Yes votes
Voters took to the polls on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 to vote on one proposition for the county and six propositions for the City of Bristow, along with choosing a Republican Creek County Commissioner for District 3 candidate. The voted Republican candidate will run against Democrat candidate Chris Root in the September election. No other Democrat candidate registered to run against Root. After all precincts reported, Jarrod Whitehouse led the election with 42 percent of the votes, while Danny Gann received 27 percent of the votes.
On the Proposition side of the election, Proposition One, for Creek County, was voted in by the voters. This proposition was for a .1667 percent tax increase to help 15 different county fire departments in Creek County to buy protective equipment, trucks and other items needed to help fight fires in the county.
Propositions One, Two Three, Four, Five and Six for the City of Bristow were all passed by the voters. Voters voted yes on the sales tax increase in order to get the new hospital the city is so desparately in need of.
Propostion One was asking for a one-half of one percent sales tax increase providing revenues for capital improvements for a new hospital facility in the city.
Proposition Two was asking for a one-half of one percent sales tax increase providing revenues for capital improvemnts to public parks, and public lands, cultural and recreational facilities.
Proposition Three asked for an amendment to change the bidding requirements for public improvemnets.
Proposition Four asked for an amendment to change the primary election requirements.
Proposition Five asked for an amendment to eliminate the requirements that an ordinance be published in a local newspaper in advance to the meeting unless passage is unnanimous and
Proposition Six asked that the City Charter of the City of Bristow be amended to eliminate the language pretaining to publcation of an ordinance in advance of consideration.
