Greetings, Bristow!
There's been a lot of discussion lately regarding street closures for upcoming railroad crossing upgrades. There is a federal grant that allows for the upgrade of three railroad crossings, provided we permanently close one crossing. Initially, the City Council approved the closure of East 5th Street, and plans were engineered based on that decision.
However, we were later presented with an additional opportunity to close one more crossing and upgrade three others. After a discussion over the course of two meetings, the City Council decided to close East 8th Street. Considering recent public feedback expressing concerns about the practicality of this closure, we are reconsidering the decision. This issue will be revisited at an upcoming City Council meeting.
I encourage everyone who cares about the future of Bristow, whether a resident or not, to stay informed and engaged. Reading this article is a great first step. Remember, City Council meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. at City Hall and are livestreamed on the Bristow City Hall Facebook page. Please take the time to learn who your council representatives are and don’t hesitate to ask questions or share your thoughts.
Your input matters, and together, we can shape the future of our community
