The Oklahoma Museums Association (OMA) has selected the Bristow Historical Society, Inc. for special recognition at its 2025 Annual Conference, a prestigious event celebrating excellence in museum work across the state. This year’s Recognition Dinner will take place at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, where museum professionals and volunteers will gather to share ideas, celebrate achievements, and strengthen Oklahoma’s cultural institutions.
OMA’s conference covers a wide range of topics, from volunteer management and fundraising to collections care and educational programming. It’s a valuable opportunity for local volunteers to connect with seasoned professionals who understand both the challenges and the joys of preserving history.
Thanks to the dedication of Bristow Historical Society volunteers, the Bristow Train Depot Museum has become a standout destination. Their innovative efforts have brought Bristow’s rich history to life, earning the museum a coveted spot in OK Travel’s “Oklahoma Passport”, a program that draws thousands of Route 66 tourists to our town each year.
Brenda Granger, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Museums Association, praised the Bristow Historical Society as “well deserving” of this honor. Their work not only preserves the past but also energizes Bristow’s future by fostering community pride and economic growth.
Congratulations to these hard-working volunteers! Your persistence and passion are making Bristow a better place for everyone. We encourage residents and visitors alike to stop by the Depot and see firsthand why it’s earning rave reviews.
