From accepting unsolicited donations and timely distributing them to those in need to connecting people in need of resources with the appropriate resources and agencies and even to fundraising for needed charitable causes, Bristow Area Social Services works diligently to serve the community.
For example, OG&E recently donated a few dozen box fans to BSS for disbursement to residents in need. According to Katie Anderson of BSS, the utility makes a donation of box fans to the nonprofit annually. Anyone without air conditioning and in need of a fan may call or visit to inquire about fan availability; however, potential recipients are asked to note that fans may be limited to one per family. BSS expressed gratitude to OG&E for their generosity in supporting the needs of Bristow area residents.
Regarding how BSS helps connect people to needed resources and agencies, Oklahoma Department of Human Services, OKDHS and more recently known as OHS, announced the opening of funds for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, better known as LIHEAP. Low-income eligible households may apply for summer

Finally, as it often does, BSS collects donations in support of local charitable causes. Sometimes, it fundraises, seeking financial support; other times, it seeks donated goods and services to meet the community’s needs. Presently, BSS is accepting financial donations in support of the Pirate Plunge Kids Fund, explaining that the fund will help pay entry fees for community children unable to experience the joy of the new pool without the generosity of others. The organization noted that donations may be made by check or cash and can either be mailed or dropped off in person to BSS. Anyone wanting to donate online may donate via PayPal to BSS’ PayPal account @BristowSS.
