City of Bristow code and ordinance for inoperable junk motor vehicles
Beginning July 1, the City of Bristow implemented a new ordinance regarding junk vehicles sitting in yards inside the city limits. The ordinance is as follows: The ordinance describes a junk vehicle as any vehicle that is dismantled, abandoned, or inoperable, truck, trailer, motorcycle, tractor, or self propelled farm or construction equipment. This also includes parts, bodies, transmissions, engines, frames and rear ends.
The accumulation or storage of the said items will be declared a nuisance. An inoperable vehicle must be housed inside a garage or building so it is not visible from the street or from other private property.
The removal or enclosure of an inoperable vehicle should be made within 10 days after notice is given. In cases where it is determined that the nuisance should be abated, and the nuisance is not abate d within 10 days, the vehicle will be removed and stored in a proper place. The owner of any vehicle removed by the city may regain possession by making application to the Bristow Police Department within 30 days after it was removed and upon payment to the city of all reasonable costs of removal and storage. If the vehicle is not claimed within 30 days, it may be sold without notice.
