The Bristow community is in for a real treat in April when a young Bristow graduate will be performing at Bristow's Country Club. On Stage at the Freeland Center is presenting Brice Calvin, guitarist, and the band Delvon Lamar Organ Trio who will perform for a night of great entertainment.
Calvin is a 2018 graduate of Bristow High School and still lives in Bristow. Chip Cooper says, “It's a homecoming for one of the finest musicians.” Calvin said he has been playing the guitar since he was eight years old and basically learned to play from playing Guitar Hero in his younger days. He can read music but essentially plays the guitar by ear. His guitar talent has been compared to musicians like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmy Hendrixs or Eric Johnson.
The band consists of an organ player, drummer and guitar player and specializes in the lost art of “feel good music.” The music is a blues based style of jazz that incorporates elements of R&B. Calvin describes the music as American soul jazz.
Calvin said he was discovered when he live streamed his music on Tik Tok. He got a phone call saying the band needed a guitar player. He auditioned for the band and has been with them ever since. They have gone on two tours. The first was traveling along the west coast performing in places like Seattle, California, Arizona, Texas and Tulsa. The second was along the East Coast and even performing in South America in cities like Argentina and Rio de Janeiro. The group is doing a tour in Europe starting in May and will be performing in various cities around Europe until June.
Calvin will be performing on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Bristow Country Club. Let's go out and support his fine young musician and enjoy an evening of great entertainment. The event will start at 7:30 p.m. but doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Etix.com or by contacting Don Baker at (918) 637-3540.
