“This is the day which the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalms 18:24).
It’s impressive to see retired folks roaming about at dawn each day. They've gone to work early for so many years that sleeping late isn't an option. They don’t even wake up to an alarm! It’s marvelous to experience a stunning sunrise. Try it! Take a deep breath of the clean, fresh morning air. Listen to the singing birds.
Embrace the peacefulness of your new day! God gave you this precious gift! Fewer cars belch out pollution. Ah, the silence. People are often more pleasant. Loud disturbances won’t disrupt your solitude. Oh, what a beautiful morning, Oklahoma!
Your elderly neighbors choose to enjoy every peaceful moment they have in their remaining years. That’s not to say they are deeply attached to this world, but they’re content with life.
They might be able to travel or focus on a hobby now that the hectic pace has slowed. But some are suffering, bedridden with crippling illness.
Many retire in poverty! Some elderly citizens aren’t able to function without artificial support - such as a wheelchair, walker, cane, or oxygen.
Older folks know they’ve already seen most of their years in this life. How does that future reality sit with you?
It’s true, days pass more quickly the older we get. Years rapidly slip away!
What good lies ahead for you? Is it possible to face your final moments with hope in spite of arthritic hands, weak legs, or loneliness?
When you open your eyes each morning, why not pray, “Thank You, Lord!”? He kept you safe during the night! God was there all night to bring you into this new day!
What's your health like today? You may have glasses that help you see the world a bit better, but over seven million Americans have uncorrectable vision loss. There are no devices, medicine, or surgery to help correct it.
As your body ages and passes into eternity, Scripture speaks to your temporal condition: “People are afraid of a high place and of terrors on the road…the grasshopper drags itself along...For man goes to his eternal home while the mourners move around in the street…then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it” (please read Ecclesiastes 12 ). “The conclusion, when everything has been heard, is to fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person” (Ecclesiastes 2:13).
God, through His Son, Jesus, the only Lord and Savior of everyone, gives you a reason to rejoice in each new day!
