The surgeon assured the mangled victim, saying, “I know we can fix your leg.” A pickup truck had destroyed the man’s car in a HEAD-ON collision. The man feared losing his leg. He prayed he wouldn’t. When his doctor said, “We can fix it! God has the hard part; I have the easy part.” His fear dissolved. God did it! The doctor also did his part. That year he walked again.
Have you ever had fear during out-of-control pain? You did nothing to get there, but you could do nothing to end it. Whether physical, emotional, or financial, the pain and fear were real.
“Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is righteous and endowed with salvation, humble, and mounted on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9/Luke 19).
“And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and of pleading, so that they will look at Me whom they pierced; and they will mourn for Him, like one mourning for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn” (Zechariah 12:10/Luke 22:35/Acts 2:35-36).
Israel waited hundreds of years to see their promised Messiah. They knew what to look for. They waited for God to end all their fears, but when He arrived, they failed to see Him. They killed Him. Many still fail to see Him.
“God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world” (Hebrews 1:1-2). Sadly, many today don't see Him.
“I sought the Lord, and He answered me, and rescued me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4). Seek the Lord; be freed from your fears. Your circumstances may not change, but you will – on the inside.
“By this the love of God was revealed in us, that God has sent His only Son into the world so that we may live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (satisfaction) for our sins” (1 John 4:9-10).
God wants you to have peace. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). If you are weary and burdened, Jesus is calling to you (Matthew 11:28).
