. . . from the Pastor’s Desk

Missionary and pastor Rev. Earl Lee wrote a short treatise called The Cycle of Victorious Living. The book is based on Psalm 37:1-8. He describes how we are called to not Fret or Worry, but rather, we are to COMMIT, TRUST, DELIGHT, and REST in the Lord.

In his book If You Will Ask, Oswald Chambers tells us that worry is an insult to a God who instructs us to have faith and trust in Him.

In Matthew 8:26 (NIV), Jesus asked: “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”

Imagine if you will, that Jesus is talking to you in the midst of the current Pandemic, the conspiracies, the bickering, polarizations, hatred, and divisiveness. Do you REALLY believe He is in control?

Jesus is asking us: “Ron (fill in your name), you of little faith, why are you so afraid? You said you trusted Me. You said you had confidence in My holiness. Why have you deserted your faith in me to return to your prayers of panic?”

I think the one piece from Psalm 37 that we forget to do is “REST.” It is easy to pray and give Him our concerns . . . BUT then, we somehow get the idea that He won’t be able to handle it without our help. SO, we jump in and try to help. Just REST!!

To quote comedian Bob Newhart’s line from his ageold TV show: “JUST STOP IT!”

I need to STOP IT, and rest in the assurance that what He says He will do . . . HE WILL DO!

Always in His Service,

Pastor Ron
