Fireworks permits available

For $25, permits may be purchased at City Hall to set off fireworks in town. The permits are good for consumer fireworks only and apply to specific dates and times.

City Hall stated, “Permitted fireworks are class 1.4G”, which are defined as consumer fireworks. Also, class 1.4G fireworks contain no more than 50 mg of flash powder for ground effects and no more than 130 mg of flash powder for aerial effects, according to Dynamite Fireworks.

Further, city issued permits are only valid from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on dates July 3 through 6. It was noted that the hours and days will be enforced by the Bristow Police Department; however, numerous residents have complained that fireworks have been set off in town as late as 2 a.m., during the week prior to July 3. However, if residents hope to have the permits and local firework parameters enforced, they must report violations. Moreover, residents have a duty to adhere to the parameters themselves.

Additional residential concerns include the potential for fires given the high temperatures and dry vegetation. Any concerns and questions may be directed to City Hall at 918367-2237. Firework violations may be reported to Bristow Police Department at 918367-2252, and any fires or additional threats regarding dangerous situations should be reported immediately via 911.
