Mother Nature celebates the 4th of July

No matter how many plans you had for the 4th of July, Mother Nature decided she would put on a show of her own, and a show she did. Around 8 p.m. the wind started picking up, the wind got cooler and the lighting was seen in the distance through the deep, dark clouds. The wind started blowing harder and faster, then it was here. Mother Nature lit up the night sky, with lighting bolts, heavy rain, and wind gusts up to 60 plus miles an hour. The storm knocked down power lines and uprooted trees. Many communities had planned firework shows but had to be rescheduled due to the weather.

Meanwhile the community had gathered around Lake Massena for the 4th of July activities. When the weather hit, everyone scattered and there went the Rte 66 Firework Extravaganza. The police and fire department, along with the city, the vendors and all, didn’t give up though, they just waited until Sunday evening, July 5, and under optimal conditions the Rte 66 Firework Extravaganza went off without a hitch. It was a great way to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States. What a display it was. “Way to go guys” about sums it up. The fireworks were exceptionally nice, with the National Anthem playing as the sky lit up, but this time it wasn’t Mother Nature, but beautiful colors, reflecting off the lake for a gorgeous scene.

The community really seemed to enjoy the show this year. Social media lit up with comments about the show, calling it amazingly beautiful and well done. This doesn’t include the hundreds of people sitting at home, not on social media, who saw the show and commented to themselves, what a wonderful show.
