Shirley Jane Holderfield, daughter of the late Jay Bud and Nola Lee Armitage was born July 13, 1937 in Bristow. She entered into rest on May 20, 2022 at 10:38 a.m. at the age of 84 years, 10 month and seven days.
On July 15, 1955, she married the love of her life, Billy Joe Holderfield, who preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2019. Unto this union were born, Rhonda Luann, Billy Joe Jr., Stanley Scott and Darla Jane.
She attended Bristow Public Schools and worked hard all of her life, first at Garment Factories and then for almost 40 years, she worked as a cook at the Bristow Hospital. She loved to cook and did a wonderful job, she made pies to give as gifts to the hospital staff and friends. Her family loved to eat around her table. She was known for her delicious Barbe-que chicken. Her doors were always open, everyone was welcome at Booma’s house. She loved being with her family, going to church and she loved Jesus.
She received the name Booma from her first granddaughter, Nonna and it made her happy when other people called her Booma, she became Booma to everybody.
After she and Billy Joe got married, they chose to raise their family in the Holiness Church. They went to Gypsy Holiness a few years then came back to Bristow Holiness Church and there she was a Deacon’s wife for 50 years.
She is survived by her children, Rhonda Essary and husband Buddy, Joey Holderfield and wife Laura, Scotty Holderfield and wife Cindy, Darla Holland and husband Joey Dale, all of Bristow. Fourteen grandchildren, Nonna Frost and husband Jake, Tandra Sisco and husband Tony, Michael Essary and wife Nikki, Jon Essary and wife Helen, Lehannah Stewart and husband Kaelin, Kehly Cochran, Hailey Holderfield, Bethany Holderfield, Zech Holderfield and wife Katie, Sheanea Holderfield, Sweden McCutcheon and husband Philip, Josiah Holland and wife Rhonda, Isaiah Holland and Zephaniah Holland. 37 great grandchildren… Abby, Allie, Autumn and Judah Frost. Elizabeth Beck and husband Tucker, Kolbe, Koleman, Annabeth and Kannon Sisco. Aspen Perry and husband Alex. Buddy Joe, Ciralyn, M J and Siler Essary. Elana, Olivia and Bayleigh Essary. Analiese, Novalee, Avonlee, Emmalin, McKenna and Elikai Stewart. Tucker and Tyler Cochran. Cameron Abono. Tegan, Tinlee and Tatumn Holderfield. Jaivan, Daikota and Jairus McCutcheon, Isaac, Ezra and Troy Holland. Great great-grandson, Koulson Beck and baby granddaughter Havyn Perry on the way, due August 13. A sister, Dorothy Dotson of Fritch Texas and brother Marland Armitage and wife Marzetta, of Bristow, sister-in-law Nadine Armitage, of Beggs, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Betty Livingston and husband Reverend Bill; two brothers, Bud Armitage and wife Beaulah, Bob Armitage and a brother-in-law Bob Dotson; two grandsons, Micaiah and Ethan Essary and a great greatgranddaughter, Harper Perry.
She will always be loved and missed by her family and everyone who knew her.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Bristow Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens.
