Ronald “Ron” Earl Griffin, age 78, of Stillwater, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at his residence. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2023 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Ron was born to Earl and Fae (Christy) Griffin on July 7, 1945 in Tulsa. He grew up in Bristow, where he graduated from Bristow High School in 1963.
Ron met the love of his life, Rachel Longworth, and married her April 17, 1965 in Bristow where they soon started a family of three children Gene, Raymond, and Rebecca.
As a teenager, Ron worked for his dad and uncle at OTASCO in Bristow and continued a career path working for OTASCO in Tulsa, Waveland, Mississippi, and Sapulpa, Oklahoma for a total of over 25 years. Ron also worked as a store manager and a maintenance manager for AutoZone in serval states for 28 years, retiring 2012.
Ron and Rachel lived in many places, but his favorite place was the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he loved to fish. Ron also loved to watch sports, especially football and baseball. His favorite pastime was spending time with his seven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Ron is proceeded in death by his parents Earl and Fae Griffin; his brother John Griffin; and his sister Donna Solomon.
Ron leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Rachel Griffin; his son Gene Griffin of Memphis TN; son Raymond and wife Angie Griffin of Denison, Texas; his daughter Rebecca and husband Terry Nichols of Glenpool; his grandchildren Scott Griffin (aka Knot Head) and wife Jessica, Tina Griffin, Kevin Griffin, Jake Griffin (aka Big Jake), Ashley Simmons (aka Big Nick) and husband Curtis, Tyler Nichols (aka Big T), and Christopher Griffin (aka Bear); his great granddaughters Kyliee (aka Jr.), Kenzleigh (aka Curly), Paislee (aka Possum), and Abby (aka Booger); his sisters Pam Dawson and husband Robert of Bristow and Christy Horn and partner Danny Richburg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
The family would like to thank Karman Legacy Hospice for their wonderful care, especially nurses Kelly and Mary, and nurses aid Rachel.
