A celebration of life memorial service for Bristow resident, Paul Colbert, were held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 in the Rogers Chapel Baptist Church near Slick. Pastor Steve Howard of St. John Baptist Church in Sapulpa officiated. Paul’s cremains will be buried in the Rogers Chapel Cemetery following the services. Paul was born near Antlers, Oklahoma on March 4, 1936 to the late Martin Colbert and Deloma (Guess) Colbert. He passed from this life in Bristow on Oct. 19, 2023, at the age of 87 years, seven months, and 15 days. He was raised and educated in the Kellyville / Slick area and had joined the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He married Cordell L. Chaney on June 3, 1958. Paul had worked as a mechanic the majority of his life and also as a security guard. He was a man of great faith & was a Deacon of Rogers Chapel Church and loved to sing and spend time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife in 2004; three brothers and two sisters. His remaining family includes five children: Keith Chaney and wife Sally, of Tulsa; Paul Colbert, Jr., of Tulsa; Rosalind Bigpond, of Bristow; Shalonda Colbert, of Minnesota; Angel Lunsford of Broken Arrow; his Spouse and partner: Valencia Bigpond, of the home; eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sixgreat-great grandchildren; three sisters and three brothers: Erma Heath, of Tulsa; Charles Colbert, of Slick; Joela George, of Bristow; Luther Colbert, of Mannford; Jeff Colbert, of Tulsa; Lela Jones, of Tulsa; plus several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives andfriends.
