Melba Lou Douglas was born Nov. 4, 1936, to Floyd and Florence Kelso in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She departed this life June 12, 2021, at the age of 84.
On Nov. 6, 1954, Melba Lou Kelso and Lloyd R. Douglas were united in marriage. From this union were born six children, Debra, David, Bruce, Brad, Glen and Marla. They enjoyed 56 years together until his passing Jan. 18, 2011.
She retired as the assistant director of UCAP Headstart. She was a faithful member of the Trinity Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, genealogy and most importantly, spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Debra Burrows and husband Edward, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Marla Wahl and husband Danny, of Bristow; three sons, Bruce Douglas and wife Julie, of McKinney, Texas, Brad Douglas and wife Glenda, of Bristow, Glen Douglas, of Bristow; adopted daughter, Veona Douglas Davis, of Bristow; twelve grandchildren, Daniel Burrows, Philip Burrows, Emily Gaskill, Nathan Burrows, Jeni Dayley, Lairame Wahl, Caysen Wahl, Cordeus Wahl, Bradyn Douglas, Brandi Clark, Mark Douglas and Sean Douglas; 18 great grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, David Douglas and granddaughter, Amber Douglas.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Melba Douglas Learning Center, 1002 S. Chestnut, Bristow, Oklahoma 74010. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Bristow Trinity Baptist Church with interment to follow at the New Zion Cemetery, Chandler, Oklahoma.
