Linda Jean Toon

July 2, 1945 - February 20, 2025

Linda Jean Toon was born July 2, 1945, in Bell Gardens, California, the oldest child of Elton and Opal Abbott. She left this life on February 20, 2025, at the age of 79.

She graduated from Vian High School and briefly attended Northeastern State University. Later, she completed her bachelor’s degree in education at Texas Women’s University. Linda moved to Bristow in 1983 and began teaching there.

She taught various subjects in middle and high school before retiring in 2008. She also worked at Nelson’s Video Store and Wal-Mart, continuing to help students during her breaks.

She loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Opal Abbott, brother Gary Abbott, brother-in-law Bill Galatian, nephew Greg Galatian, niece Lorna G. Galatian, and niece Harmony Price.

She is survived by her two children: daughter Donna Mosier and son George Toon. Donna’s family includes Sammantha and Michael Dawson, and their sons Henry and William, Maddison and Dallas Huntley, Gabbriel Stivers and her partner Justin Marlin, along with their father Doug Stivers, and Luke and Carson Mosier, along with their father David Mosier. George’s wife Pam Toon, along with their families, including Aaron and Sandi Stice, Cristy Stice and her partner Chig Kingn and son Keegan Pickle, Zach Toon, Alicia and Zach Kurki with their daughter Kylie, Noah Toon, and Koby Toon, along with his partner Adriana Willett and their daughter Parker.

She is survived by two sisters: a twin, Lana Galatian, and her family, Lorna and Steve Price, and their children Brandon and Ashlee Price, Emilie, and Lloyd Jones, with children Braxton, Parker, Owen, and Kimber, along with Nanci Galatian; grandchildren: Anna Galatian and partner Drew Johnson, along with children Payton, Jackson, Averie, and Justin Galatian. Sister Faye George and her children and grandchildren. With this, many other family members as well. She also counted her many students as family.

Services will include a visitation on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m., a funeral on Friday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m., and an interment on Monday, March 3, 2024, at Box Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home
