Leola Proctor Roebuck was born Feb. 24, 1920, in rural Arkansas to Charley and Claudie (Fobbs) Guess. The family found their home in Little Rock, Arkansas later to move to the Oklahoma communities of Oktaha, Haskell and Taft. The family eventually settled on the family farm two miles north of Bristow during the Great Depression.

She was united in marriage to Vernon H. Proctor Sr. to which seven children were born: Mary Alice, Robert, Vernon Jr., Leon, Vera, Samuel and Lester.

Leola Proctor Roebuck was a longtime resident of the Bristow community. Upon leaving the family homestead after many years, she and seven children moved to the city of Bristow at 507 North Poplar, Bristow, Oklahoma, where she lived for many years until her health began to decline. She later married Isaiah Roebuck, which union brought two sons, Kenneth Sr. and Eugene.

Leola Proctor Roebuck was a dedicated and faithful member of the Duffey Chapel Baptist Church, Bristow, Oklahoma where she served for 38 years as the Church Treasurer under the ministry of Reverend Percy M. Mayes. Her faith was strong in the Lord Jesus Christ and the great plan of salvation. Her life experience gave her a testimony with many pearls of wisdom and an unwavering constitution of strength demonstrated to the family from the life challenges and heartaches she endured.

She lived and enjoyed life fully as a mother, grandmother, loving sister, caretaker and homemaker. Her life was simple, quiet and peaceful, but very real. Her favorite pastimes were spent cooking, sewing and quilting, gardening, canning, listening to gospel music and championship wrestling. Her home was an open door and haven to many in the neighborhood and the Bristow community for anyone to come by for a visit, to share an encouraging word or to have a good laugh. No one was a stranger at her home. She had a special spirit of welcome, coupled with humility and a genuine care for others.

A significant milestone achievement of her life and earthly journey was in honor of her 100th birthday on February 24, 2020. Congratulatory birthday wishes were extended to her from President Donald Trump, Oklahoma Congressmen Inhofe, Lucas and Lankford.
