Kenneth Clinton Garton

February11,1939 -January17,2025 

Kenneth Clinton Garton was born Feb. 11, 1939, to Edwin and Irma Leona Garton in Depew. He was one of nine children. He departed this life at his home on Jan.17, 2025, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and six days.

Kenneth, a lifelong Gypsy and Depew resident, attended Gypsy School and graduated from there. He furthered his education earning an associate degree at Northeastern Oklahoma College at Tonkawa. Kenneth supported his family with hard work and determination while operating G-Bar Ranch and Ken’s Universal Photos.

Ken and Nancy were married on Feb.12, 1968, sharing a life for nearly 57 years. Together they worked on the ranch, even having a day camp for children, teaching them to ride horses and how to care for them.

Singing country music was one of his greatest passions and released an album in 1975.Their duo was known as Ken Holiday and Nancy Jo Garton.

Ken also loved classic cars and attending rodeos. When he was young, he rode broncs and bulls. He was no stranger to racing horses. He owned several and traveled all over the state to compete. He was a man of many talents.

Ken is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Cathy Looper (Garton); five siblings, Judy McVay, of Bixby; Jane Smith, of Longmont, Colorado; Mildred Johnson, of Tulsa; Anna Varner and husband Roger, of Palmetto, Florida and Phillip Garton and wife Marie, of Broken Arrow; five grandchildren, Clinton Bruce Garton II and wife Loralee, Nichole Chesser, Andrea Dunlap and husband Mark, Brittany Buck and husband Caleb and David Looper; nine great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Clinton Bruce Garton; two sisters, Betty Irvin and Patsy Marie Hill; brother, Monroe Henry Garton.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, at the Gypsy Holiness Church.
