Glenda J. Ward was born March 6, 1953 to Houston and Patricia Winkle in Okemah. She departed this life Oct. 22, 2025 at the age of 72 years.
Glenda was a 1971 graduate of Bristow High School. She and James A. Ward were married, Jan. 18, 1978, in McKinney, Texas; two children were born to this union. James and Glenda made their home in the Bristow area. Glenda worked in many different capacities throughout her life such as at Bristow Carpets, Bolin Ford and librarian at the Bristow Public Library. Of all the titles held throughout her life she most enjoyed those of mom and Grandma. Glenda loved spending time with her grandson, James. Cooking, Gardening and reading often helped pass the time as well as an occasional food show.
Glenda is survived by her children, Julie LeAnn Colley and husband Tommy, of Tampa, Florida and James Brian Ward and wife Kayla, of Bristow; stepdaughter, Leatha Jill McDonald and husband Steve, of Tampa, Florida and one grandson, James Andrew Ward; one sister, Debbie Jacobs, of Owasso; one aunt, Mary Morrow, of Tulsa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Rick Winkle.
Graveside services were helduled for 11 am., Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, at Morse Cemetery near Okemah. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.matherlyfuneralhomes. com.
